Taiwanese cypress boards have the same high reputation as Japanese Hon-Kaya boards for their fine grain and Uchiaji, a satisfying hand feel while placing a stone on the board. Since logging has been banned for several decades and exports have been prohibited, it is a rare and valuable board that is now rarely found. The wood grain is excellent and has a unique aroma of Taiwanese cypress.
