The shiny, glittering parts decorated on the Go bowls are made from shiny Silver-lip oysters' and abalone shells are inlaid into lacquered wooden Go bowls using the Raden (mother-of-pearl inlay) decoration technique. It is a work of art found in many Shosoin treasures, which were made using the same technique.
