This is a Go board featuring handwritten calligraphy by professional player Kaoru Iwamoto. Mr. Iwamoto established Nihon Ki-in branches in Brazil, New York, and Seattle, and devoted several years to promoting Go in Europe, making him the person who contributed most to the spread and development of Go throughout the world. He also provided funds to rebuild the Nihon Ki-in when it was destroyed by fire. This Go board bearing his calligraphy has been re-processed by Modern Master Craftsman Kenichi Kumasu. Among Hyuga Kaya boards, it is a Go board with particularly superior wood character.
